Summer Walker releases sophomore album, ‘Still Over It’

Referred to as the R&B Queen by many, Summer Walker has recently released her sophomore album ‘Still over it,’ which is a follow-up for her renowned debut album ‘Over it .’ She also recreated the cover photo. It is safe to say that, like her previous album, this one is also based on her breakup theme but has more pieces of advice and narrations from the past.
The 25-year-old American singer is an inspiration for young people. She made her way to fame back in October 2018 through her first commercial mixtape, “last day of summer,” many may not know, but the star had to walk on eggs before she made her way to success. Walker worked as a stripper and a cleaner for two years before she was noticed by creative and manager Summer Walker, the studio manager at LVRN.

In August 2019, her debut album ‘over it’ came out and was successful as her single lead. When Walker started her new album, she was going through a breakup with her Ex-boyfriend. She poured her heart out about her life lessons, relationships, and love and moved the souls of listeners.
The album comprises twenty different songs, some collaborating with other artists like SZA, Ari Lennox, Cardi-B, Pharrell Williams, Omarion, etc. The opening track ‘Bitter’ has narrations of Cardi-B to express the awful experience of love, ‘Ex for a reason” features JT from city girls where She and JT check their partners’ cellphone and tell them to not cheat (stating, that b*tch your Ex for a reason though). This track has mixed reviews from fans on social media.
The closing song is everyone’s favorite, “Ciara’s prayer,” which has become a hot tea on social media. Fans are going crazy over the heart-touching lyrics “love is patient, love is kind” and are using them as their captions. She wins the hearts of fans not only through her soulful music but by guiding young women out there who are struggling in their love life. Her music is focused on explaining how relationships shouldn’t be toxic and how women shouldn’t settle for less. While interacting on social media, walker said she wants her fans to learn from her mistakes and never ignore the red flags coming their way. Love is shown through the actions of the lover. If you’re not being treated well, then don’t settle for less.

She tweeted,
“Take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes. You don’t have to guess if something is love. Love is shown through actions. Stop making excuses for people who don’t show up for you. Don’t ignore the red flags. And don’t think you have to stay somewhere ’cause you can’t find better, you can and you will. Don’t settle for less—you don’t deserve it and neither does your family”
What an absolute queen! her songs remind us to take a moment and think if we are being treated right or not.
