Megan Thee Stallion’s Touching Tributes to Her Parents: “Best Friends”
Megan Thee Stallion posted Instagram tributes to her late mother and father. Her mother, a rapper known by the stage name “Holly-Wood,” introduced Megan to the musical arts and became her manager back in college. Her father, though in prison for the first eight years of Megan’s life, is described by the artist as her “first best friend.”
When Megan was younger, her mother would take her along to the recording studio instead of to daycare. It was here that Megan got her first taste of rap; she began rapping herself at a young age (much to her mother’s surprise). “My mom is the first female rapper I’ve ever known,” Megan Thee Stallion told Vulture back in 2019.
Megan refuses to “settle” in her relationships, in part, because of the way that her father treated her mother. “I saw how he treated my mom, and I saw how my dad treated me,” she told Marie Claire. “I have so many strong positive influences. I’m not going to lower my standards.”
