Good News: MTV VMA Awards Still On For 2020

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards [VMA’s] are still a go. The event is set to be held in Brooklyn. This news is a positive one for entertainers and video creators across the country.

While New York was a COVID-19 epicenter earlier in 2020, it is now seeing a decrease in cases. The area is set to enter Phase III of reopening on July 6, 2020.

The 2020 VMA’s will be hosted on Sunday, August 30 at Barclays Center. This will be the first event held at the center since the COVID-19 outbreak began. “We’re elated to bring the 2020 ‘VMAs’ back to NYC, the cultural mecca of the world where music and entertainment are woven into the DNA,” stated Bruce Gillmer, Pres. of Music, Music Talent, and Programming & Events for ViacomCBS Media Networks in a press release.
