In a recent interview with E! News, Shaquille O’ Neal stated that, “one of [his] worst mistakes ever was not signing the Backstreet Boys.” According to the basketball legend, both the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC recorded their very first albums at his house – in his home studio. O’ Neal did the recording himself.
“When they were young, they recorded their first album at my house, at the studio at my house — *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. True story.”

“A lot of people don’t know, Shaquille had a big hand in starting our career. We lived in Orlando and our first place that we recorded at was his house. All of our first demos and first songs were all from Shaq’s house.” – Lance Bass of *NSYNC
About the youngsters, Shaq said, “they recorded their first album in my house, ’cause they were just kids trying to come up with a demo. I think I charged them $5 an hour for my studio.” $5 an hour to record with Shaquille O’ Neal, in his home? Sounds like a great deal to me!
This news connects with a hilarious Google “glitch” that occurred back in 2018, when Shaq was listed as a baritone member of NYSYNC! I’d like to see that on stage.
