Teacher, mother, and musician Heather Montgomery has balanced her time and found a way to record and post a song a day to her Facebook page for nearly 100 days now. This is in effort to raise money for local, Spokane food banks [2-harvest.org/streetmusicweek].
Normally, Spokane’s Street Music Week would be a time for buskers to get out into the streets and play music for crowds passing by. However, because of the current COVID-19 situation, Heather has gone virtual with her tunes.
“Being stuck at home has given me a lot of time to think about what actually matters,” says Montgomery. “And people are relying on food banks more than ever now, so I’m happy to do what I can.” [https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2020/jun/12/street-music-week-busker-posts-a-song-a-day-online/]
On top of raising money for local organizations, Heather Montgomery also views her song-a-day method as a sort of a self challenge: a way to improve her musical skills and grow her songbook. She also says that posting daily videos helps motivate her to look her best each day, even during quarantine.
You go, Heather!
