
The Musical Face Behind Google’s Featured Logo
If you have visited Google.com as of late, you have probably noticed the bright and smiling face of the man pictured above.
This is none other than Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, who is best known for his iconic voice and ukulele playing [particularly in his cover of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow“].
Although Israel passed away in 1997, his iconic cover topped the charts in 2011 and remained at #1 for 332 weeks [non-consecutive].
Google now honors him as the Official Featured Google Logo to commemorate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. If you click on the logo, an uplifting, animated video plays. This video is perfect for a time such as this.
